Elazig Cherry
Code · EVS-105
A deep cherry and burgundy ground is threaded with a network of fine white veins, while occasional gray-green fragments add depth to the pattern. With its warm, rich red, it is one of Türkiye’s best-known colored marbles.
Elazig Cherry is quarried around Alacakaya in Elazığ and is found nowhere else in the world. Petrographically, it belongs to the ophicalcite group; its color comes from the iron minerals in its composition. It is registered with a geographical indication and is known in Türkiye as Elazığ Vişne.
It is used for wall cladding, flooring, bathrooms, fireplaces, and decorative surfaces in prestigious spaces such as hotels, residences, and retail stores. As marble, it is sensitive to acidic substances; regular sealing is recommended.
